About Us- Lyon Family Farms

Lyon Family Farms is owned and operated by Richard and Shelley Lyon. They bought this land and started the PumpkinPatch in 2006, but the family farm is nearby, and both work there as well as on their own farm.

The pride of the little Lyons are their three children, at Lyon Family Farms in Taft, Tennessee.

Richard grew up on his parent's farm, Stanley and Martha Lyon, at a time when the family grew primarily 200 acres of Christmas trees, during a time when Stanley was an extension agent. Today, that farm grows approximately 140 acres of nursery stock, 175 acres of row crops, 50 acres of squash, 150 acres of pumpkins, and this year they are adding several acres of okra and bell peppers.

Richard works full time with the family farm, and Shelley is the bookkeeper. In fact, Shelley's parents, Phillip and Rosa Page, and her brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Suzanne Page, plus Richard's brother, Roger Lyon and his sister, Debbie Arnsparger, all help out on the farm as well.

Richard graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Ag Economics, and Shelley graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Ornamental Lyon Family Farms, in Taft, Tennessee, for the perfect family pumpkin patch and corn maze. Horticulture. They met a few years after college, and were married in 2004. They have three children, Luke, Elizabeth, and baby Georgia Rae, adding to the joy of running a family-oriented pumpkin patch and farm.

Richard and Shelley truly hope you will enjoy your frequent visits to the farm—there are things to do for the whole family. Most importantly, they've created a relaxed family atmosphere where you can enjoy watching your children play and run and jump, you can take hayrides together, and everyone can take time for family.
